What a wonderful way to celebrate our 5th anniversary. We only live 15 minutes from here, but it feels like another world. We'll definitely be back and recommend it to all our friends for a local get away. All the best in your endeavors here.

NOTE FROM JANET: I think you had a great plan to be away from the phone, your kids for a free babysitter weekend provided by your folks. Going to enjoy Asheville as a local "tourist" sounds like great leisurely fun. Wish I could!

Thank-you for a fabulous end of year getaway. We have had a great time in the Asheville area, exploring the property here as well as the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock area. We were so glad to have the opportunity to bring our dog, Murphy. He had a blast hiking with us and we've rarely seen him as tired and sleepy as he's been in the evenings after a long day of exploring. As for Brent and me, we especially enjoyed soaking in the hot tub and looking up at the sky full fo stars. We hope to be back soon!

Many warm thanks for a lovely stay. We had a blast ba-haing around your property in your buggie for the guided tour. What a nice farm you have here. It is perfect for a much needed get away from the crowds and demands of daily life. (At least our lives.) We will continue to return to this area-research and plan a way to either live near this place or spend more time here. We know you will enjoy great success with this cabin and your future plans. It has a great location and loads of charm. Really, it was the right spot for our 10th anniversary! Buzzard's Roost was a treat for the senses-truly a special spot. I'm sure that were I given a chainsaw, I too would be transformed. From what I nave read in the journals, Janet, you carry your father's spirit within you. I believe this is a very good thing. It has been a pleasure, reminding us that angels are everywhere!

I cannot express how thankful I am for you sharing your beautiful cabin with us. This weekend has been so special. Everything from the fire place to the hot tub, the decor and scenery was absolutely perfect. We took a walk down to your pond (even though it was snowing pretty hard). Even in the middle of winter you will be happy to know your land is stunning. I hope we can com back when it's a little warmer. Thank you again for one of the most memorable weekends we've ever had!

PS we love the cows!

NOTE FROM JANET: And when the snow stops falling and you look across the pasture with the sun shining on it, it becomes alive with a thousand jewels of reflected rainbow crystals. I love snowy days, too.

What a wonderful place you have here! It was just what we needed- a quiet, peaceful get away weekend without going far from home. All the little details inside really make this a luxurious little cabin, and we enjoyed them as much as possible...even having a little last minute hot tub time this morning before checkout. The entire property is so beautiful, we're glad you continue to reserve our WNC mountainsides and keep this place intact. Sipsey (our Basset hound dog) really loved the hike up to Buzzard's Roost and she was pooped the rest of the day. Thanks for being so pup friendly. Please call me anytime this summer when garden work is in full swing. I'd love to help you and learn along the way!

NOTE FORM JANET: Wow, a renter who wants to work??? The lifestyle is what you relate to...simpler times, time away from time. For me, too, the world goes away. I'll be calling you at potato planting time!

We wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at Heavenly Hideaway. We can't express enough how nice it was to get away from the stresses of our daily lives and come relax on your beautiful property. How lucky you are to have been here so long. From sitting in the hot tub to relaxing with a glass of wine by the fire, this cabin was perfect for our first "Getaway." This is all without mentioning its great location. We had such an easy time getting to all the places we wanted to visit: Biltmore, Chimney Rock and downtown Asheville to name a few. We plan on recommending Heavenly Hideaway to many of our friends and we WILL be back soon. Tim and Jen

Dear Janet-
Thank-you for the perfect getaway to celebrate our 23 anniversary. We were able to celebrate, reconnect, share memories, make plans and mostly BE. It also gave us the chance to breathe and to remember why we choose to live in this part of the world and how improtant it is for us to direct energy daily to its preservation from basic recycling all the way to stewardship of the land.
Thank you for Buzzards Roost and the stories that are shared in the journal in the mailbox. I, like you, lost more that one loved one in a short time and you allowed me to reflect upon that in a safe and spectacularly beautiful place or healing place. Thanks for sharing.

NOTE FROM JANET: I am thrilled that you could go just 11 miles from your home (and phone and kids and pets) yet be transported to another world. Now you know where to come again.

Dear Aunt Janet,
I had a wonderful time visiting with you. The new cabin is beautiful and I am glad to see that you have taken good care of my pot hole digger. I'll try to "Buzz" by next week if I have the time and be back for our family reunion this summer. Rob

COMMENT FROM JANET; Third generation nephew in the USMC spent the summer here before boot camp digging holes for the cattle fence! He did buzz by the Cane Creek Valley in his FA-18 Hornet on the way to Parris Island with the permission of air-traffic controllers, of course. Pretty exciting for his Aunt Janet.

I can't even begin to tell you how much we love this cabin! Everything you have done is amazing! It felt like our own little dream vacation home. Daniel just returned home from a year in Afghanistan with the US Army, so this little "hideaway" was exactly the vacation we needed. We are also celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary. It is the first anniversary we have actually been together for. It seems that he is usually someplace else around this time of year thanks to the Army. We will be seeing you again!

NOTE FROM JANET: Shannon called me 8 months before ( and many emails in between)the booking hopeful that Daniel's stay wouldn't be extended. I'm so glad he was on time! You both have my respect and gratitude for your patriotic service.

Dear Janet,
What an awesome place you have. Thursday was perfect riding weather. We went to Chimney Rock Park (Thanks for telling us about it!). Your roads around here are great for motorcycling.
Our trip to Tennessee (Deal's Gap, NC) to ride "The Tail of the Dragon" was great, too! Been there, done that and got the t-shirt and video!
I love the wild turkeys in your pasture. The one that got caught in the cattle pen was a hoot. She would pace back and forth for hours but never go to the gate.
The hot tub was wonderful and very relaxing. I finally (Lynn wouldn't go in) got to enjoy it our last night.
We loved the fireplace. I think I have talked Lynn into doing ours and setting it up with a remote like yours. (Thanks!)
We know several couples we want to tell about your place and who knows we may return doing a different season to see things change. God's peace and blessings to you.

NOTE FROM JANET: Lynn walked every morning with the camera while Donna slept in. He captured so many unique scenes that they had them made into coasters and sent to me! Thanks1

We instantly felt at home in Heavenly Hideaway! It's such a comfortable and cozy cabin. We enjoyed the hot tub, the grill and the spacious deck. We and our "kids" enjoyed the walking trails. We hope that you will be visiting us soon in our own log home in the mountains. Thanks for the hospitality!

NOTE FROM JANET: Hmmmmm, that cajun cooking on the grill wafted through the woods to my house.

We enjoyed biking to Buzzard's Roost, hiking, exploring the woods, and camping by the pond. This was the perfect get away to celebrate our one-year anniversary of marriage. Trouble enjoyed running through the paths in the woods and fetching sticks in the pond. We only wish we could stay longer. We hope to return next winter to see the fresh snow fall!

NOTE FROM JANET: Wow, you're really in shape if you could ride the mountain bikes all the way up to Buzzard's Roost! Must be the Marine Boot Camp that got you in shape.

Just want to thank you for everything. This is a beautiful place. We wanted for nothing. I told mark that I wanted him to surprise me for our 5th anniversary and that he did. I had no idea what to expect and I was real proud of him to find this treasure in the woods. We hope to return!

You almost feel now like a part of our family. This was the perfect reunion spot for sisters, brother and spouses. We feel very connected to it now and to you. We will return.
PS To future guests: do not miss Janet's "Buzzard's Roost."

NOTE FROM JANET: I was skeptical at first that this could work but, by golly, the travel trailer just fit in the drive way, just back from Key West for this surprise reunion of your family. 3 in the Hideaway and 2 in the travel trailer plus, Hogan...such a good dog.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful hideaway with us. I had almost given up on finding a cabin this Thanksgiving weekend to celbrate our 25th wedding anniversary. what a blessing this has been for both of us. Exploring Asheveille, taking strolls around the property, relaxing in the hot tub and laughing at each other as we sprinted back in the cabin from the deck hot tub in 20 degree weather.
May God bless you always and guide you through this adventure of life. You have truly blessed us by sharing your home.
Hope to see you again soon,

This place is exactly what I would love for a cabin for ourselves. We just about lived in the hot tub...it was sooo relaxing! You've done a wonderful job here! You should build a few more. I'm sure they'd be full.
When we finally got to "Buzzard's Roost" my husband was overwhelmed! It was incredible with the fall colors. This time or Early Spring would be perfect times to fully enjoy what you have to offer here.
We were here for our 6th wedding anniversary and my birthday. It's the most romantic, wonderful thing we ever could have done.
Thanks so much for opening this place and sharing it with all of us!

This is a great little cabin. We enjoyed the hot tub on the deck on the beautiful, clear, cool nights. This is a wonderful location for scootin' around Asheville and doing some hiking. Danielle has already talked about trying to come back. We had a blast on our honeymoon.

We have had a wonderful time up here this weekend! Your place has so much character! There's so much to do here. We took a nice walk with our dog, Fisher, and we went down to the pond. Sammy fished for a while, I took bunches of pics and played with Fisher. We had a great time!
The cabin is BEAUTIFUL!! all the "little extras" are so inviting. It really made us feel very comfortable. The only problem we have is lack of time! Our wekend was over so fast.
If we come back up this way, we will most certainly try to stay here again!

Don't even know where to begin. We fell in love with your piece of "heaven!" I don't think we have ever relaxed on a vacation as much as we did on this one. We had plans to go see other plasces, but once we got here, we cancelled everything. We did not want to leave! Everything is here. hikes, beautiful views, hot tub, bon fires, etc. Bruno says this place took him back to his days of growing up and spending his summers in upstate NY.We felt guilty for relaxing so much when we saw you running around all over this place. God Bless your energy! Thank-you for helping us have a wonderful 13th wedding anniversary.

Dear Janet,
What a wonderful secret you have and thank you for sharing it with us! Scott and I needed a get-a-away and a little piece of heaven to celebrate our 10th anniversary. Heavenly Hideaway was the best decision we ever made. We love all the special touches you put into the decor. Also, you married the high tech aspects of life with nature. You truly are a clever woman who figured a way to keep your past alive while sharing it with others. Keep pushing forward. my husband and I will definetly be back and will tell all of our firends.

First off...thanks for NOTHING. Thanks for NO constant swish of the cars and buses going by, the shouts of angry commuters. Thanks for NO rumble of the mass transit train and semi's shaking windows in the middle of the night.
Thanks for NO constant glare of the street lights, head lights, security lights, all the lights people put up to keep away the dark or what they imagine might be creeping in it.
Thanks for NO expectations. Thanks for NOTHING more than the stillness of the woods and the peace that the wind stirring the treetops can bring. Thanks for NOTHING more than the vault of clear stars over our heads. Every night I will place that clear, transparency of perfect night to the insides of my eyes for as long as I can remember it. AND if I forget...I know where to come to find a spring of well being that springs from NOTHING.

Paul and I chose Heavely Hideaway as the spot for our first vaction away toghether. We could not be more pleased. After a long day of hiking at Chimney Rock, Grandfather Mountain or the trail to "Buzzard's Roost," nothing was better than coming back to the cabin, cooking a nice dinner together and enjoying the evening in the hot tub under the stars with a nice bottle of wine. As photographers we couldn't have picked a more beatuiful place to vist. Asheville is a quaint and delightful city. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!

It is amazing to be so close to the Biltmore Estate yet feel you were way out in the country off a dirt road. I think it only took us 10 minutes to get to the Biltmore Estate and we had already gotten our tickets online so it was perfect. You definitely have the best kept secret around. No wonder you call it 'the Hideaway."

WOW! Heavenly Hideaway was quite a pleasant surprise. Our first day here we went to the Biltmore for the Christmas Candlelight evening. It was a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit. We ate at the Bistro (at the Biltmore) that night and picked up a bottle of wine from the winery. The second day, we spent exploring your property. Our dog, Dollar, had an amazing time and will be worn out for weeks. We hiked the trails, skipped rocks across the frozen pond and viewed the amazing scenery. We enjoyed drinking a bottle of wine, cooking a romantic dinner, and observing the stars from the hot tub. We are looking forward to returning in the summer. Thank-you for your hospitality.

Janet,

We had a great time just as we did before. We appreciate your hospitality. It feels just like home when we are there, this being our second visit. We spent most of our time walking trails & relaxing in the hot tub. We took a few pictures that we are sending to you. Driving the “Mule” was one of Chet's favorite moments of the weekend. Next year he wants to help collect the honey & see the bees! We have recommended you to several friends, family, & coworkers. It's always a great experience at the Hideaway. Thanks for such a secluded & relaxing place to spend a special occasion. We will be returning sooner than later...
